Australian Marketing

Australia has a different perspective than we do on many fronts.  One of them is marketing - and to our view some of them are either unintentionally hilarious (to us) or fall into the category of "what were they thinking?" (for something which would be to us, highly offensive or suggestive).  Sometimes, it's required by law (take a look at the egg descriptions - they are required by law - Australians tend to be very green and concerned about wildlife and animal rights - with which I tend to agree).  However, there is one here which made me look one, two, and three times (see the wallaby product, which is a cute and small version of a kangaroo).

I am sometimes reminded of the classic business case of Ford Motor Company trying to market the new Nova in Mexico several years back.  Unfortunately, in Spanish, "Nova" means "doesn't go."  So sometimes I guess we are the Mexicans, as some of the marketing I see has me scratching my head.  Other times I just think "that just can't be right."  And sometimes I just like the marketing design.

One of my favorite things to do is take the I-phone to the grocery store.  Needless to say, I'm getting a reputation at the local IGA as the Strange American Who Takes Pictures of Food.  Oh well; it's better than being the Ugly American.

I still haven't figured out what flavor "musk" is. Perhaps beaver or muskrat.

By the way, here's what a wallaby looks like when it's not "minced."  Cute little fella, but they're like rabbits here.
